Project Aims
The aim is to develop a communications network which provides cost free WiFi access to high bandwidth internet services.
It operates in central activity areas, tourist precincts and event venues by investing in innovative ICT infrastructure and facilities accessible by the new generation of Smartphones and Tablets.
CIEMS Project Outcomes
The project will open up the high bandwidth capacity delivered in an NBN environment to smart mobile devices over a high quality wireless service, delivering valuable information freely and ubiquitously to the community.
CIEMS

CIEMS Solutions
A collaborative and comprehensive WiFi information and management solution for local communities.
In future all mobile communication devices will support WiFi connectivity and the most common way for people to connect to the Internet will be via a mobile device such as a Smartphone or Tablet. The project seeks to deliver to the community a free wireless WiFi communications enabling ubiquitous information services delivering services to all sectors of the Community.
This project is another tool deployed to improve the level of activity in the central business and other activity areas of towns and cities assisting government and businesses to communicate more efficiently and effectively.
All sectors of the community are increasingly reliant on ICT communications networks to seek and provide information, drive organisations and enable social interaction. The problem for many communities is the lack of suitable infrastructure and systems to capitalise on new technology and trends in information sharing.
The Community WiFi Information Network initiative enables the establishment of ubiquitous ICT community information services. Accessed by a high bandwidth WiFi wireless information portal it freely delivers community information, interactive maps, location, tourist and event information with rich media (including video.)
The network can deliver broadband internet facilities, assisting local residents, businesses, tourists and event patrons and promote the benefits of the local region in which it operates.
Particular attention is given to the development of applications for mobile access and interactive information delivery. Considerable demographic, analytical and geospatial intelligence is captured for future planning strategies.
The management of the wireless network is incorporated into a web monitoring system with a single access portal within the wireless coverage areas accessible by end users..
Secure integration of Local Government, Education, Tourism and Businesses is a key feature for the innovative CIEMS management systems allowing collaborative partnerships.
