FREE WiFi In short, the cost of hotel WiFi is purely a marketing decision. Many hotels resist giving the WiFi up for free because they would be turning their backs on an easy source of revenue. That arguement failed for hotel telephony services on the advent of mobile phones. it is equally false now for Smartphone and Tablet Internet access.
 
One International Hotel now offering Free WiFi commented in its Annual Report, “WiFi is like electricity and water now. We don’t charge our guests for that. It’s expected.” Let’s hope that more hotels can be as brave as BPH and start offering it for free".

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) - the industry association focused on driving the next generation Wi-Fi experience - reveals that the number of public WiFi hotspots globally with increase by 350 percent by 2015. The predicted deployment of new hotspots, will involve hotspots concentrated in three types of locations - wide-area outdoor hotzones (e.g. parks and community areas); local-area outdoor hotzones (e.g. popular tourist attractions and shopping precincts); and transport hubs (e.g. airports).
 
ISPs are extending broadband services beyond the home and office, competing with traditional telephone carrier networks. Next generation hotspots are making inroads by cracking the code of a simple, secure user experience.
